The Day the Earth Stood Still

Crossing the spans of the Milky Way;
A chain of events on this special day;
Some here content to happen what may;
Others head down for an extended stay.

Where did it go…the run of the mill?
Lost and mired; time to pay the bill;
Confusion and chaos; a bitter pill;
Surreal; the day the earth stood still.

Yes, the shock will blow our minds;
Earth’s rotation caught in a bind;
Hope, love & peace; hard to find;
A perilous fate for all human kind.

The poles reverse, like a bouncing ball;
The earth will shake; mountains will fall;
Lost in fear, our innate senses will stall;
It will be hard to make sense of it all.

In all directions; gale force winds will blow;
North will be south, the south will be snow;
The west will be gone; and the east will flow;
Water will be scarce, with a red lava glow.

Unfortunately, our fate is all but cast;
Remember, nothing is destined to last;
So heal and make peace with the past;
Live life for today until the final blast.

For all who read these words, do not despair;
A badge of honor; we were chosen to wear;
Now my friends, there is little time to spare;
So enjoy each day with hope, love and care.
