Hussein Kobeissi, Jr. Editorial Reader
GREYstone, 2011-

Hussein Kobeissi is a 17-year-old of Lebanese heritage, living in Canton, Michigan.   He has taken an interest in writing, starting when he was about 12 years old.  He has always been obsessed with words and the ways in which people use them.  The first book he read that inspired him was Khalil Gibran's "Thoughts and Meditations."  The poetic manner and beauty of Gibran's writing inspired Hussein to write as well.  Gibran is among many of Hussein's literary inspirations, which also include Edgar Allen Poe, Leo Tolstoy, Mark Twain, and E.E Cummings.  In addition, Hussein takes enjoyment in artwork, although it isn't his main creative interest.  Art sometimes allows Hussein to visualize what his writing will look like, and helps him to be more descriptive and detailed.  Artists that inspire Hussein include: Diego Rivera, Van Gogh, Michelangelo, and Leonardo Da Vinci. Hussein's work was published in the May of 2011 (inaugural) issue of GREYstone

On his editorial work with GREYstone, Hussein remarks: "I only try my best to be unbiased, and fair takikng all things into consideration when I am judging every submission.  I do respect all writing and art because I know that it comes from people's hearts and means something special to each writer and artist, and I also know how hard it is on a person to be rejected or denied their writing."
